Push Bikes & Bicycles are often seen as easy targets by thieves these days, as the bikes have become more technical, desirable & valuable in recent times the Reward against Risk for the thief is more attractive.

The general Criminal will often work out his Risk against their potential Reward before committing a crime, they will take it to consideration the following:

Risk:
1) Where is the item being stored.
2) How easy is it to access the location of the item.
3) Is the location overlooked, on CCTV or covered by an Alarm.
4) Is there any Security devices fitted to the item.
5) Is there an easy escape route (with or without the item).
6) Basically, the chances of being successfull or getting caught.

They may make these decisions on the spot or they may do their homework first, they may perhaps walk straight onto your property in the middle of the day having a good and clear look at all of your property, out buildings, security devices etc only to ask if you want your drive tarmaccing when approached (we have all heard the stories).

Reward:
1) What is their potential finacial reward.
2) Where can they sell it.
3) Who can they sell it too.
4) What chance is there of the goods being traceable if caught.

Our advice is make the Risk higher than the Reward, use any of the following ideas:
1) Lock your Push Bikes at all times when it is not being used.
2) Use Locks with built in Sirens.
3) Fit Alarms to the buildings they are being stored in.
4) Fit CCTV or Dummy CCTV Cameras overlooking the storage area of the bikes.
5) Mark your property.
6) Use good locks on the storage building.
7) Use Driveway Alarms or External Alarms to give you an idea someone is near the storage location before they even get in.
8) For really expensive bikes, consider FOGG OFF smoke machines.

These ideas are not only relevant for push bikes but are just as important when protecting garden machinery, fishing equipment, golf clubs, motorcycles, lawn mowers, drills, garden machinery, tools etc etc, the list is endless.
It may sound a lot to consider, but using just one or two of the items listed above doesn't cost a fortune but may save you a lot of grief and heartache as you are making the Risk Higher and the Reward Lower.
