Remote Location GSM Vehicle Alarm

By | May 6, 2021

We were asked to attend a site by the Police in a UK County to see if we could come up with any ideas or solutions to help with a particular large problem they were having.

The problem was that an undesirable group of individuals were (and still are) carrying out gruesome and illegal Deer Hunting with Dogs, this is not being done for Food, but done purely in the name of Gambling.

Quite often they will even pull the Dogs OFF before a captured Deer is killed, only to let it try to escape before setting the Dogs on it again (for an additional gamble).

The problem the Police are having is that these events are often carried out on private open land over large estates, normally during the middle of the night, it is impossible and unpractical for the Gamekeepers to fit locked gates blocking off all access to these areas, it is also impossible for the Gamekeepers to be able to monitor and protect the fields 24 hours a day (they need to sleep at some time).

Remote CCTV Cameras were tried, but these were soon spotted using infrared Cameras and simple stolen or destroyed.

The solution we came up with was covert vehicle detectors that can be fitted and hidden underground in locations that have been previously known or likely to be used.

The Alarm consists of a single weatherproof box (375 x 256 x 104 mm) which is buried slightly underground or hidden within a hedgerow next to an access lane. Inside this box is a metal detecting probe that will only detect moving steel, therefore stopping false alarms from wild animals (perhaps with the exception of some horses moving very close to the box with steel horse shoes although these are unlikely to be moving around at 3 am).

Also inside this box is a battery powered GSM Dialler which when Armed will silently contact up to three key-holders by Phone and/or Text when triggered.

It is also possible to rig up a wireless Solar Siren up to 30 metres away or a Mains powered Wireless Siren or Wireless Floodlight up to 200 metres away should a Siren be wanted (although this is less popular).

The box is Armed and Disarmed by Remote Control by key-holders.

Installation is really simple, it is best to set the box up sitting comfortably at a table, then simply drive to the chosen location  and place the box in a suitable hole or hedgerow (see image below) Arm and Test.

If the Alarm Calls the key-holder they can decide to press # on their mobile phone which will stop the Alarm calling the next key-holder and disarm the Alarm, or they can press * which will stop the Alarm calling the next key-holder but re-Arm the Alarm.

This Alarm could be used in many remote applications, the list could be endless.
