UltraCAM - Frequently answered questions

UltraCAM - Frequently answered questions

How does it work?

The 4G UltraCAM controller is a system that we designed that connects to the 4G network using a NANO-SIM card (sim card not supplied) (like a phone) to broadcast a network. Up to 8 cameras can connect to this network. Well protected by a weather-resistant casing (IP 65 certified), it is perfect for outdoor installation. It can operate via a 12V transformer (provided) or autonomously with an additional solar panel system.

What types of cameras work with UltraCAM?

Opting for autonomous cameras is often the most practical choice, as they offer greater flexibility in terms of camera installation. You can also choose powered cameras. Once the power supply mode is decided, all that remains is to determine the type of cameras you need (rotating, high-resolution, optical zoom, with or without solar panel, with intelligent detection, etc.).

Note: You can connect up to 8 cameras simultaneously to the local network broadcast by the 4G UltraCAM controller.

How is the UltraCAM 4G controller powered?

The 4G controller is powered directly by 12V using the provided transformer. However, we have developed compatibility with a solar panel, with the ongoing aim of making the UltraCAM 4G system completely autonomous (4G controller + cameras)!

is a subscription required?

To operate and provide a secure network for the cameras, the 4G UltraCAM controller requires an activated SIM card from a main mobile telephone provider. The SIM card must be of the NANO format sizing. As for the required plan, expect a minimum of at least 1GB/month of mobile data (or "DATA") per camera

Note: data consumption varies according to your usage, so it is difficult to give general realistic values.

please be aware of plan limits and to expect high data usage if this is installed in an active environment, or where you need to access footage frequently

What happens in the event of a power outage?

What use is a video surveillance system for a construction site, home, or business if it fails during a power cut, be it accidental or deliberate?

With this in mind, we've engineered the UltraCAM controller unit featuring an inbuilt backup battery. This ensures the system remains operational, maintaining power even in the event of a power outage.

Expect up to 3 hours of battery backup life, which provides ample time to intervene and restore power (these figures can vary depending on the type/number of cameras in the system).

What are the Dimensions of the 4G UltraCAM Controller?

The 4G UltraCAM controller boasts a sleek, compact design measuring 225 × 185 × 70 mm. It includes a mountable bracket on the rear, complete with four holes and the necessary screws and plugs for installation. Its protective casing, certified for waterproofing, ensures ease of installation both indoors and outdoors.

IP65_CERTIFICATION_IMAGE

The 4G UltraCAM controller boasts robust weather resistance, carrying an IP65 rating, ensuring it is completely sealed against dust ingress and safeguarded from water jets coming from any direction.

Note: In case of installation on the facade of a building with metal cladding (or any metal structure), we have developed a casing equipped with powerful magnets for an intuitive and adaptable setup.

What is the range between the controller and the cameras?

The 4G UltraCAM controller broadcasts a network with an impressive range of approximately 100 meters (line of sight). This extensive range offers you greater flexibility in positioning your cameras for enhanced effectiveness. We recommend situating the 4G UltraCAM controller more centrally within your camera network to ensure all cameras are within its reach. A major advantage of our 4G controller is its weather resistance (IP65 certification). Confidently place it outdoors (for example, on a building's facade) to optimize signal range by minimizing the number of obstacles it needs to penetrate.

I do not have power, what do I do?

Should you need to set up a video surveillance system in an isolated or remote area lacking access to power, we've got you covered! Use our premium solar kit to power the 4G UltraCAM controller. The kit's 50W solar panel delivers the essential energy efficiency required for the system's effective functioning. Opt for a 4G UltraCAM controller equipped with a solar panel and independent cameras, and you'll have a completely self-sufficient and hassle-free system.
